Tourists have started cancelling trips to Kenya following last Thursday’s terror attack at a university. Over 140 people, mostly students lost their lives. A string of attacks by Islamist militant group, Al shabab has weakened the country’s tourism sector with western countries such as Britain, United States and Australia increasing travel warnings to the East African nation. Hoteliers say the attack on a campus in Garissa, a remote town near the Somalia border is likely to spark another wave of redundancies in the hospitality sector. Workers in the industry have had to take pay cuts, but players say they might have to lay off staff as they can no longer sustain even the reduced wage bill.
