Egypt’s tourism ministry has announced a sharp drop in the number of tourists visiting the country in Quarter one this year.

Only 1.2 million visitors entered Egypt compared to 2.2 million in the same period last year, the drop amounts to about 45%.

The industry has suffered since the 2011 unrest but the worst impact came after a terrorist attack brought down a Russian jetliner in the Sinai peninsula last October.

CCTV’s Adel EL Mahrouky reports.
