Togo FA requests Tunisia AFCON 2017 qualifier be moved to neutral venue
Togo’s football federation has requested that their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Tunisia scheduled for later this month be moved to a neutral nation due to security fears in the North African country.
The FTF made the appeal to the Confederation of African Football on Friday for a change of venue, which is scheduled for March 25th in the coastal town of Monastir.
The federation cited security as their main reason for the request following the upsurge of attacks in the country, which is in a state of emergency.
The African football governing body has not yet responded to the request.
Tunisian security forces have been involved in deadly clashes with militants on the country’s southern border with Libya this week.
