Thousands of supporters of Zimbabwe’s ruling party ZANU PF have today marched in the capital Harare, to show their support for ageing President Robert Mugabe.
Mugabe is one of Africa’s longest serving leaders, serving as the southern African nation’s president since December 1987.
Party supporters arrived in Harare from all across the country’s 10 provinces, gathering at various assembling points before marching to the Robert Mugabe square near the party’s headquarters, west of the city center.
The so-called million-man march follows a large protest against corruption and poverty held by the opposition Movement for Democratic Change on April 14.
The 92-year-old has in reality been ruler of Zimbawe since 1980, serving as prime minister until 1987 when he was sworn in as president.
