Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller has tipped Liverpool’s Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah for the Ballon d’Or.

Salah has enjoyed an incredible debut season with the Reds, scoring 44 goals in all competitions in a season that also saw him set a new scoring record in the English premier League.

Liverpool play Spanish giants Real Madrid in the final of the Champions League on Saturday, where Salah will come face-to-face with another Ballon d’Or contender, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ahead of that game, Muller said Salah’s chances of lifting the prestigious individual award would be boosted by a win for Liverpool.

“I think that Mo Salah was very impressive,” Mirrof Football quote Muller. “Maybe if Liverpool can win the Champions League title, he’s a big candidate.”

The German went on to praise Salah’s performance this season, though he acknowledged that Ronaldo alongside Barcelona’s Lionel Messi have also had good seasons.

“The whole world is looking for a new Ballon D’Or winner. Leo Messi and Ronaldo are outstanding, but the performance of Salah this season was also outstanding. I think he has a great chance,” he said.

Salah this season won the PFA Player of the Year award, three Player of the Month Awards, the English Golden Boot and was also named Liverpool’s Player of the Season.
