
Tanzanian Bongo superstar Diamond Platnumz set for AFCON 2017 opening ceremony

Tanzanian Bongo superstar Diamond Platnumz is set to shake grounds at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations opening ceremony in Gabon come January 14.
Diamond performed at the just concluded Glo-CAF Award 2016 in Abuja, Nigeria.The awards are annually held to fete outstanding football players and stakeholders in the sport.
He made the announcement on his Instagram saying that history has to be made on the 14 January night.

368 players from 16 countries – all on one mission to lift the trophy are expected in Gabon on the 14 January.
Gabon says they are finally ready to host a competition which at one point was shrouded in doubt following post-election chaos.
There are still calls from some in the country to boycott the event but as teams continue to arrive excitement is building up in the central African country.
Hosts Gabon will take on debutants Guinea Bissau in the opening match on Saturday.
The last time they hosted the event in 2012 the Panthers reached the quarterfinals.
In 2017 they are hoping to become the 11th country to win the tournament on home soil. The country of about 1.5million people will be depending on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang their star player, to help deliver the trophy.
