Tanzania marks the anniversary of the death of Julius Nyerere
Tanzania today 14th October mark the anniversary of the death of Julius Nyerere, its founding father.
Nyerere was born on the 13 April 1922 and died on the 14 october 1999. He served the leader from 1960 until his retirement in 1985.
He became Tanzania’s first President in 1962 when the country became a republic.
Today Tanzanians have been using the hashtag #DearNyerere to express the difference between Mr Nyerere’s vision for the country in 1961 and where it is now as it heads into elections later this month
