The Tanzanian government has praised China’s efforts in the battle to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus. Government spokesperson Hassan Abbas commended Beijing’s response to the outbreak, both on the healthcare front and in the realm of information transparency.

Abbas said Tanzanians living in China “are not in panic mode,” explaining that clear lines of communication from both the Chinese government and the Tanzanian embassy in the country, were helping to keep residents appropriately informed.

“The government of China has been very open to its citizens and to the citizens of different countries who are in China,” the spokesperson explained. “It has been very open to the rest of the world in terms of what is happening. This is very effective.”
