The curtain has just fallen on the 73rd United Nations General Assembly. As world leaders tried to tackle some of the most pressing issues of our time, the debate on the future of multilateralism took center stage.

With US president Donald Trump rejecting globalization on the one hand, and the developing world defending it on the other, the future of multilateral engagement is now hanging in the balance.

So are we witnessing the formation of a new world order? And can the United Nations maintain its relevance in a changing world?
