Talk Africa: Nigeria and Senegal decide online

Read < 1 minute

Nigeria and Senegal went to the polls on February 23rd and 24th
respectively, for their presidential and parliamentary elections.
Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria and Senegal’s Macky Sall were both seeking
re-election for their second and final terms.

Official tallies declared Macky Sall the winner with 58% of the vote
while Muhammadu Buhari won with 56%. However Buhari’s closest rival,
Atiku Abubakar, has rejected the result and stated he will challenge
the victory in court.

This week we look at the just concluded elections and what the future
may hold for both countries.
