Read < 1 minute

The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is pursuing two new paths for peace with Rwanda.

The U.S. has brokered a deal between the DRC and Rwanda, known as the Washington Accord. Meanwhile, Qatar is mediating for peace between the DRC and M23 rebels.

The peace agreement aims to end hostilities and support for armed groups in eastern DRC, while in Qatar, a Declaration of Principles has been signed between representatives of the DRC government and those of the M23.

This week on the program, we ask: Can these new initiatives bring lasting peace to the DRC?
