Read < 1 minute

From Africa’s northern-most tip of Tunisia to the Southern Cape of South Africa and even further west to Nigeria; 2019 has seen political winds sweep across many parts of Africa.

The year saw both routine and unforeseen transitions of power, with many countries marking new chapters in their leadership. Security has also been a major area of conversation, as Africa continues to battle the threat of militant extremism in the Sahel region, the Horn of Africa as well as recurrent rebel attacks in the Congo.
