Swahili pop-star Joh Makini making waves since 2002

Joh Makini is one of Tanzania’s biggest Swahili hiphop artists, winning national awards and collaborating with household names like AKA.

Hailing from Arusha, his nickname “Mwamba wa Kaskazini” means ‘Rock from the North’. He stepped into the music industry in 2002, and has been making waves ever since.
