Study:Does your hairstyle dictate your self-esteem?
Lately there have been very many stories about hair and different hair styles. What food is right for your type of hair, what you should or shouldn’t do about your hair, why many ladies are rocking natural hair styles and how chemicals can really harm your hair and how you should take care of your chemically treated hair and so on and so on.
Many women these days mostly African are rocking natural hair in so many different styles, maybe because there’s been so much talk and many fashion shows on how one can still look trendy by wearing their natural hair look.
Now what has awoken emotions about natural hair, is a study that is said to have been conducted by cosmetic company Bountiful Hair, which says women with natural hair have lower self-esteem than women with treated hair.
According to BlackHair.com, natural hair is “hair whose texture hasn’t been altered by chemical straighteners, including relaxers and texturizers.”
Many people obviously disagree with the study. We only pose the question what does hair really have to do with self esteem? Does self esteem ever change depending on what you are wearing or what your hairstyle is?
