Stray bullet kills a little girl in post-Election protests in Kenya
A nine year old pupil from Mathare North Primary has died after being shot during a confrontation between police & Mathare residents in Nairobi, Kenya. The girl was playing on a balcony when stray bullet hit her, reports the Standard.
The residents are accusing police of using live bullets to quench the protest that followed the announcement of Uhuru Kenyatta as the Presidential winner of the 2017 elections.
Police has been engaging protesters mainly from Nairobi slums in running battles following the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto. In other areas such as Kibera slums, police fired teargas early Saturday morning dispersing youths in the area.
According to the Daily Nation, two people were shot dead when protests erupted after NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga claimed that Jubilee Party had rigged the elections in favour of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
