South Sudan’s government and opposition have now agreed on the number and types of weapons rebel leader Riek Machar should bring with him to the capital, Juba.

The government, however, says, the rebels’ weapons need to be verified before being allowed into Juba.

Meanwhile, the deadline for Machar’s return to the city has come and gone. It’s still unclear when he will return to the country to facilitate the formation of the much awaited unity government.

South Sudan’s government which previously rejected the proposal to allow opposition bring in more weapons now says it has accepted that request.

The government’s condition for accepting the opposition’s demand is that the weapons be verified by JMEC before being brought to Juba.
