South Sudan’s Ministry of Health on Wednesday confirmed 134 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total of infections to 481.
Makur Matur Koriom, the undersecretary in the Ministry of Health, said the public health laboratory released 271 samples results which were tested in the last 48 hours.
Koriom noted that 80 percent of all the confirmed cases in the east African country are men, adding that only one patient is critically ill.
Koriom also confirmed that the number of recoveries have risen to six after two more were discharged from hospital, adding that South Sudan so far registered six fatalities.
The spike in COVID-19 cases comes in the wake of the government easing COVID-19 restrictions which were imposed as part of measures to help control the spread of the virus in the country.
