South Africa’s Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa is set to visit South Sudan in a move meant to show his country’s support for the peace process in the world’s youngest nation.

During his visit, Ramaphosa will meet South Sudanese President Salva Kiir and First vice president Riek Machar among other top officials in Juba.

“During his working visit Deputy President Ramaphosa is scheduled to meet with South Sudanese President Salva Kirr, First Vice President Riek Machar and receive courtesy calls from Vice President Dr Wani Igga, Ministers Deng Alor Kuol and Jemma Kumba,” said the Presidency.

South Sudan’s factions last month formed a UN-backed transitional unity government that is meant to end the two-year conflict that has dogged the country, crippling development.
