South African prop Juan Schoeman signs for Bath from the Sharks
English Premiership club Bath confirmed the signing of South African prop Juan Schoeman from Super Rugby side the Sharks.
“The 28-year-old is disciplined in the tough art of front-row combat having scrummed his way through and up the various age-group ranks in South Africa culminating in Junior Springbok selection for the World Rugby U20 Championship in 2011,” the club said in a statement.
“Schoeman is a reliable and skillful front-row operator and will add further dominance to Bath’s already formidable front five.”
Schoeman, who made his Super Rugby debut for the Sharks in 2016, racked up 44 Super Rugby appearances scoring five points.
Schoeman joins a list of South Africans who ply their trade in the Premiership including Rugby World Cup winner Faf de Klerk, twins Dan and Jean-Luc du Preez, Jacques Vermeulen, Franco Mostert and Franco Marais among others.
