
South African President pledges to work with the newly elected Somali President
President Jacob Zuma has pledged to work together with the newly elected president of Somalia Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo according to a statement by the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (Dirco), according to News24.
Zuma also passed his congratulations to Farmajo for winning the Presidential elections on Wednesday and being declared president of Somalia. He also congratulated the people of Somalia for conducting a credible and fair election.
The president “commended all other candidates who immediately accepted the results, thus showing commitment to democratic principles amid attacks by destabilizing forces during the weeks preceding the elections”.
Zuma promised to work with Farmajo “to enhance the bilateral relations between South Africa and Somalia”
