
South African football teams to honour player who died in car crash

South African footballer Sinethemba Jantjie died on Monday morning in a car accident in Bethlehem.
Confirming the incident, his club, Free State Stars, said it plans to meet with Jantjie’s family after which they will give details of the funeral and memorial arrangements.

A number of clubs in the country’s top flight football league sent their condolences following the death of the midfielder who was aged 30.
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) confirmed that it will observe a moment of silence for the late Jantjie.
“The moment of silence will apply at all Absa Premiership, National First Division and MultiChoice Diski Shield fixtures from today (Monday, 01 April 2019) until Sunday, 07 April 2019,” the PSL said in part in a statement.
Jantjie had signed a pre-contract for next season with 2016/17 PSL champions Bidvest Wits and was due to link up with the team at the end of his current contract.
