South Africa risks AGOA suspension after missing deadline

Read < 1 minute

The United States may suspend South Africa from the African Growth and Opportunity Act, AGOA, after the African country missed its December 31st deadline to resolve a dispute on levies imposed on poultry, beef and pork, from the US. The African Growth and Opportunity Act was renewed by American lawmakers in June last year, and it grants duty-free, quota-free access to over 7 000 products, to 39 eligible sub-Saharan African nations.
