The President of South Africa Jacob Zuma has called last week’s marches against him racist, reports Reuters

Zuma said the protests of tens of thousands of people across the country against him demonstrated that racism in real.

“Many placards and posters displayed beliefs that we thought had been buried in 1994, with some posters depicting black people as baboons. It is clear that some of our white compatriots regard black people as being lesser human beings or sub-human.” said Zuma

The leader made the remarks at a memorial of Chris Hani, a communist leader who was assassinated for fighting the apartheid rule.
