South Africans can expect to wake up to another round of power cuts tomorrow, as load-shedding resumes.

Eskom, South Africa’s national power utility, says cold winter weather has caused the demand for electricity to surge.

“Implementing load shedding tomorrow is necessary in order to replenish the emergency generation reserves to better prepare for the coming week,” a Saturday statement read.

Sunday’s cuts are scheduled to begin at 8:00am local time and continue until 10pm.

The public utility is urging South Africans to use power sparingly over the weekend, in an effort to conserve the increasingly strained electric supply.
