Somalia’s government said on Monday it will not sign a deal with IGAD member countries that allow free movement of citizens and free trade, local Radio Dalsan said.
Speaking to media, the Immigration Chief, Mohamed Jimale Koofi said that Somalia is not fully controlling its border and has no legal papers, hence not ready to sign the deal.
Somalia has five borders; two of them are under control of Somaliland.
Ethiopia’s envoy to Somalia, Ambassador Jamaludin Ahmed said that the free movement is beneficial to all IGAD countries including Somalis since they are advanced on trade and move about the region.
