Somalia bans khat imports from Kenya
Somalia has temporarily banned importation of khat from neighbouring Kenya, giving no explanations for the move or how long it will be in place.
The herbal stimulant is very popular in Somalia, but is grown in Kenya and Ethiopia.
Hundreds of Kenyans, including farmers and traders could be affected by the decision which has been criticized for coming without any warning.
The semi-autonomous Somali region of Puntland however says it will defy the temporary ban by the government of Somalia on flights importing khat from neighbouring Kenya.
