Somalia 56 years on later: President calls for peace, but says terrorism still a challenge

There was much pomp and celebration in Mogadishu, as Somalia marks Independence Day.

The East African nation achieved independence on the 1st of July 1960. Former colonial masters — Britain and Italy – had divided the country into two, but after independence, it became one nation, the Republic of Somalia.

CCTV’s Abdulaziz Billow attended the celebrations in Mogadishu and filed this report.
