Somali president calls on parliament to approve new cabinet
Somali President Mohamed Farmajo on Tuesday called on parliament to approve the newly appointed cabinet ministers whom he said are capable of spearheading development in the country.
Farmajo who also welcomed the appointment of the new ministers said the move will enable the government to work on the implementation of the country’s priorities including elections, security and build on the achievements of the government in recent years.
“The president called on the Speaker and Members of the House of Representatives to approve the government of Prime Minister Roble, in order to expedite the important tasks ahead of the Council of Ministers, and to deliver the country to a fair and timely election,” Farmajo’s office said in a statement.
The president lauded the prime minister for his extensive consultations with the public on the selection of the new cabinet and urged all cabinet to be responsible for reflecting the aspirations of the Somali people at this critical time of reconstruction and development of the country.
Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has appointed 27 ministers, 17 state ministers and 26 deputy ministers.
