Senegal, Japan fans praised for helping clean up stadium after match
Normally after a team wins a game, there are celebrations with the fans flocking streets with songs and dances, but not for these fans of the Japan and Senegal football teams.
After their wins at the 2018 World Cup on Tuesday, the spectators decided to stay behind and help cleaning up the mess within the stadium.
Photos and videos showing the fans clearing rubbish in the stands and gathering it up went viral on social media.

“Senegal achieved a historic triumph,” Argentinian TV channel TyC Sports tweeted. “But their fans instead of celebrating minutes after the game are responsible for cleaning their sector before leaving #Respect.”
The fans were praise for their efforts by several people on Twitter.
This is my favourite moment of the World Cup so far; Japan fans picking up litter after their victory vs Columbia. The lessons in life we can take from the game. Why I support 🇯🇵 #class✅#respect✅#WorldCup pic.twitter.com/FyYLhAGDbi

“This shouldn’t be ignored,” one user tweeted. “I know for a fact I wouldn’t stay to clean up. Fair play bit of class shown here.”
Senegal beat Poland 2-1 saving not just their country’s but their Africa’s blushes since their win was the first and only African win in the first round of matches, after Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria and Tunisia all lost their opening games.
The win gives Senegal a great chance of progressing from Group H as underdogs, with Japan also winning against group favourites Colombia.
