Senegal fans welcome Cisse’s appointment

Read < 1 minute

Senegal appointed former international player Aliou Cisse as head coach of the Teranga Lions on Thursday last week. The former Birmingham City and Portsmouth midfielder has signed a four-year contract, to be reviewed after the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations. He succeeds Frenchman Alan Giresse, who left after the team failed to advance from the group stages at the recent Equatorial Guinea hosted cup of nations. The new coach declined to make any comment on his appointment just yet but fans in Dakar and football officials welcomed his appointment

Seydina Issa Laye Diop, President, Senegal Football Supporters’ Association said “Alioune Cissé’s appointment is not out of chance. He has earned it, he also embodies Senegal’s values. He once told the country he seets the Senegaleese people standing behind him when he wears the ambrand. Such a man, does not need to be reminded of expectations the people have. We the supporters are behind him all the way.”
