Read < 1 minute

There has been more reaction on the continent following Burundi and South Africa’s exit from the International Criminal Court.

Sidiki Kaba, the President of the Assembly of States Parties to the Rome Statute has called for constructive dialogue. He has defended the court’s actions. But says he believes that withdrawing from it is a sovereign act, to be decided by each individual country. Kaba says member states need to decide what’s best to maintain political stability.

The next session of the Assembly of States Parties to the Rome Statute will be held in the Hague next month.
