A search and rescue mission has resumed for a light aircraft that disappeared from radar during its flight from Kitale to Nairobi Tuesday.

Kenya’s aviation regulator says 10 people were aboard the flight which was scheduled to arrive in Nairobi in the afternoon.

The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority said in a statement Tuesday that the plane operated by Fly Fax last was observed on radar around 2 p.m. local time flying at an altitude 11,000 feet 40 nautical miles from Nairobi.

Crashes involving light aircraft are reported every other month in Kenya. Many people on board escape with injuries.
