Scores of Boko Haram militants killed in Nigeria military operations

Scores of Boko Haram militants were killed in multiple operations by the military across the northern part of Nigeria, said a defense spokesman on Sunday.
In a statement made available to Xinhua in Abuja, the Nigerian defense spokesman John Enenche said troops in the northeast region killed “scores of Boko Haram/Islamic States of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in an encounter” at Buni Gari village in Gujba local government area of the northeastern state of Yobe on Saturday.
Ten more Boko Haram militants were killed in a subsidiary operation in the same area, Enenche said.
During these encounters with the terrorists, the Nigerian troops’ morale and fighting efficiency remained high, and there was no casualty or loss of equipment on the side of troops, he said.
In a related development, the defense spokesman said further damages were recorded on the side of gunmen who terrorized local villages in the northwestern state of Katsina on the same day.
The troops had disrupted an attack on inhabitants of Kurechi and Qurzan Maikuka villages of Dutsin-Ma local government area of Katsina, neutralizing some of the gunmen while few others escaped with injuries, Enenche added.
