Saturday’s helicopter crash was second incident for Nigerian VP Osinbajo in under one year
Saturday’s helicopter crash which Nigerian vice president Yemi Osinbajo survived was the second air incident which he escaped unhurt in under one year.
The 61-year-old survived a similar crash in June 2018 when his helicopter suddenly began emitting thick smoke and was forced to make an emergency landing in Abuja soon after takeoff.
Nobody was injured in Saturday’s crash, which came two weeks before the West African country goes to the polls to elect a new president.
Osinbajo is once again deputizing President Muhammadu Buhari who is seeking a second term in office in the February 16 election.
Soon after the crash, the vice president posted a video on social media to show he was safe. He also posted a picture of the helicopter, whose propeller was damaged and was lying on its side.
Osinbajo went ahead and held the rally he had planned to hold in Kogi State.
