Sadio Mane to miss Liverpool’s trip to West Ham

Senegalese forward Sadio Mane will miss Liverpool’s Premier League game away to West Ham United on Wednesday due to a muscle problem, manager Jürgen Klopp confirmed on Tuesday.
Mane suffered the injury during the win against the Wolverhampton Wanderers on last Thursday. He was substituted after 33 minutes and replaced by Takumi Minamino.
Klopp added that Mane is also a doubt for Saturday’s home game against Southampton at Anfield.
“Sadio will not be involved for West Ham and probably not for Southampton,” said the manager. “After that, he should be then fine,” Klopp said.
“The week we have then after that is for him perfect to get back on track.
Klopp said that they are lucky that the muscle tear Mane suffered was not so serious to the extent that he would face a lengthy injury layoff.
Liverpool will be hoping to extend its lead atop the table to 19 points over defending champions Manchester City.
The Reds have won four of their last five matches against the Hammers, who lie in 17th place.
Mane has been an integral part of Liverpool’s strong Premier League campaign this season in which the European champions have won 23 out of 24 games.
He has made 22 league appearances scoring 11 goals and was named Premier League Player of the Month in November.
