S. African minister tests positive for COVID-19
South Africa’s Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy Gwede Mantashe and his wife have tested positive for COVID-19, said the government on Tuesday night.
“Minister Mantashe and Mrs Mantashe are currently in isolation and the minister will continue to work from home,” said Cabinet Spokesperson, adding that officials from his office will be tested for COVID-19.
This was the Mantashe’s third round of tests conducted since the COVID-19 outbreak, said Williams.
“The minister remains committed to a course of ensuring security of energy and petroleum products supply to society during this difficult period and beyond,” she added.
The number of COVID-19 cases in South Africa now sit at 298,292 while the death toll has hit 4,346.
