Rwanda’s first lady calls upon women to join male-dominated fields
Rwanda’s First lady Jeanette Kagame has called upon the country’s women to actively engage themselves in male-dominated fields to uplift their economic status towards achieving economic empowerment.
Mrs. Kagame made the remarks at a function held at the Unity Club Gala Dinner held Tuesday evening, as part of the celebrations to mark the International Women’s Day (IWD).
The First Lady doubles as the chairperson of Unity Club, a forum for current and former cabinet members and their spouses.
Rwanda’s theme for this year’s edition of the International Women’s Day was “Step it up for gender equality, strive for women empowerment.”
The gala dinner was organised in partnership with the Ministry of Gender and Family Promotion and New Faces New Voices, an initiative focusing on the economic empowerment of women through their increased financial inclusion.
The event partly aimed at reflecting on the 20 years of Unity Club, and the new partnership with New Faces New Voices-Rwanda Chapter.
