Rwanda reports highest number of daily COVID-19 cases
Rwanda recorded 31 new positive cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, the highest since mid-March when the country registered its first cases.
11 patients recovered from the novel virus and were discharged from the treatment centers.
In a statement, the Ministry of Health noted that “Rusizi cluster and Rusumo continue to drive new cases” hence urging “heightened vigilance everywhere”.
Rusizi district which is currently under lockdown, had 89 confirmed cases of COVID-19 before the latest update.
With a total of 87,656 sample tests carried out so far, Rwanda has recorded a total of 541 confirmed cases of whom 322 have recovered since the beginning of the outbreak in the country.
The death toll stands at two.
According to Rwanda Biomedical Center, as of Friday, Rwanda’s total confirmed cases were composed of 320 imported ones whereas the remaining 190 were contacts of imported cases.
