Rwanda and Djibouti ties seem to deepen as Rwandan President Kagame started his official visit to the neighboring country yesterday.

President Kagame agreed with his host President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh to to strengthen bilateral ties in several key areas including; air services, visa exemption for diplomatic and service passport holders, reciprocal promotion and protection of investments, establishment of joint commission and a protocol agreement on ICT cooperation, according to the New Times.

“Transportation remains a key sector to the business community indeed for the free movement of goods and people which is necessary to enhance trade across the region and would be a model to the rest of the continent.  We can harness our comparative advantage and work on having regular cargo and passenger flights between Rwanda and Djibouti,” Guelleh said.

Rwanda and Djibouti will partner to advance regional integration and in implementing the African Union reforms blueprint presented by President Kagame and adopted by all Heads of States during the last African Union Summit in January this year.

Meanwhile, the First Ladies toured some of the workshops under the women’s union known by its French name, Union Nationale des Femmes de Djibouti (UNFD), such as the ones teaching young women culinary arts and craftsmanship.
