Rwanda confirmed three more cases of the coronavirus on Thursday, bringing the total recorded positive cases to 113.
Seven of these reported cases have recovered so far and the country has not recorded any deaths.
The Ministry of Health noted in a statement that, the new cases include two travellers with recent travel history in the region and another one was discovered while tracing people who came in to contact with previously COVID-19 confirmed cases.
According to the ministry, the new cases were diagnosed from 720 samples that were collected.
The ministry also highlighted that all patients are in stable condition at Kanyinya hospital, Nyarugenge district where they are being treated.
Rwanda’s government has taken several measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus despite numbers of confirmed cases increasing.
Recently the government extended the COVID-19 lockdown with 15 more days, going through April 19.
Other measures placed include a mandatory 14-day quarantine that every Rwandan or legal citizen returning to the country should subject to upon arrival at designated locations.
Also citizens have been urged to avoid unnecessary travel to countries with the virus outbreak, to avoid body contact (handshakes and hugs) and to frequently wash hands with soap and water or disinfect their hands using sanitizers.
They have been discouraged from touching the nose, ears or mouth before washing hands.
