Rising child sex tourism in Malawi a concern for authorities

Tourists who lure underage children into sexual exploitation to be prosecuted and even deported according to the Malawi government due to increasing cases
Tourist areas such as Mangochi and other lake shore districts are areas with major cases of paedophiles taking advantage of children. Dzimwe community radio in Monkey bay gave information that tourists especially from Europe indulge in sex with little boys and girls living in the tourism attraction areas reports Nyasa Times.
Malawi’s Child Care Protection and Justice Act of 2010, section 80 and 81 state; No person shall subject a child to a social or customary practice that is harmful to the health or general development of the child…. No person shall-force a child into marriage; or b) force a child to be betrothed.
Malawi authorities have warned that any person caught contravening the law will have committed an offence facing imprisonment for ten years and deportation.
