Kenyan born cyclist Chris Froome won Sunday’s Tour de France to become the first cyclist in more than 20 years to defend his title.
Froome’s win yesterday was his third in four years, having won the 2013 and 2015 editions.
“It’s like the first time, it’s amazing. Every time it’s special,” said 31-year-old Brit.
“It’s an absolutely amazing feeling. It feels like a privilege to be in this position. I’ve always had my team-mates around me.”
Froome was born in Kenya in 1985, and was raised in both Kenya and South Africa. He competed for the East African nation until 2008 when he switched his allegiance to Britain, where both his parents are citizens.
The 31-year-old’s three victories in four years follows Sir Bradley Wiggins becoming the first Briton to win the race in 2012.
Froome dedicated his win in Paris to his wife Michelle and son Kellan.
