Rape charges against Nelson Mandela’s grandson, Mbuso Mandela, have been provisionally withdrawn in the High Court in South Africa’s main city, Johannesburg.

Mbuso was accused of raping a 15-year-old girl at a restaurant in Johannesburg’s upmarket suburb of Greenside on 7 August.

The teenager accused him of forcefully kissing her and putting his hands in her pants, and raping her.

The 24-year-old grandson of South Africa’s first black president denied this, saying that they had consensual sex and he had no idea she was a minor.
