Ramaphosa promises stronger ANC based on diverse ideologies

Following his substantive win on Monday, new ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa has promised to make the ruling party stronger.
Ramaphosa said the divergent political persuasions of the ANC’s new officials will ensure the party become even more united.
“”The leadership that has been chosen is a unity leadership, it’s a leadership that combines the different views and approaches that were prevalent in the conference prior to the election,” he said.
The 65-year old won the ANC presidency in a hotly contested election in which he garnered 2440 votes to Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma’s 2261.
Ramaphosa said his team would work together to ensure the party achieves its targets over the next five years.
‘The ANC will be able to draw a lot of strength, a lot of purpose with regards to executing the tasks that we have been given,” he said.
The current South African vice president’s win means he will vie for the 2019 presidency under the ruling party’s flag.
