The daughter of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Anne, is in Ghana for a two-day tour.

The Royal Princess’ visit to Ghana, which is a third, will celebrate the unique friendship between the UK and Ghana, as the West African commemorates its 60th Anniversary of independence from Britain, according to local media reports.

A statement from British High Commission in Ghana, the visit will reinforce the strength and depth of the two countries’ bilateral relations built on deep social and cultural ties and a shared future.

Princess Anne laid a wreath at the Christianburg War Cemetery at Osu, a city in central Accra, yesterday upon her arrival, Myjoyonline reports. She was accompanied by Ghana’s Minister of Defence Dominic Nitiwul and met up with senior members of the Ghanaian military, veterans, cadets and successful women working in the Ghana armed forces.

The Princess also held a meeting with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the Flagstaff House on Tuesday. The princess shared interesting news with Akufo-Addo of UK’s interest in helping to improve access to education for Ghanaian children. Princess Ann also presented the president with a gift she brought from the UK.

Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal will meet inspirational young girls and women sponsored by the Varkey Foundation’s Making Ghanaian Girls Great, Ghana’s first interactive distance-learning project.
