Qatari army chief in Sudan on a two-day visit

Qatari army chief General Ghanem bin Al-Ghanim arrived in Khartoum on Tuesday for a two-day visit to the country.
Al-Ghanim held talks with the Sudanese President Omar EL Bashir over defense matters, and also held bilateral discussion with his counterpart from the host nation, General Imad Adawi.
Qatar and Sudan have strong business and military ties. Both countries are part of the Saudi-led intervention in Yemen.
The visit comes as part of the strengthening of joint cooperation between the Qatari army and the Sudanese army, which had conducted joint exercises with the Sudanese forces during this year.
“The relationship between the Sudanese armed forces and us is one of the most important in all aspects of military action, including training, manufacturing and joint exercises. This relationship will continue and develop over time,” Al-Ghanim said.
His Sudanese counterpart praised the cooperation between the two countries, singling out 2017 as a great year in that relationship.
“We believe that the cooperation and training between the two countries has come a long way. This year,we have witnessed a joint venture, between the Sudan and Qatari Armed Forces,” Adawi said.
