Russia on Saturday said it was calling for an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council over the coordinated missile strikes against Syria.
President Vladimir Putin said that the military action launched by the US, in cooperation with Britain and France, was “an act of aggression” against a sovereign state and Russia strongly condemns it.
US-led missiles struck Syrian military facilities allegedly associated with the country’s chemical weapons capabilities on Saturday morning in response to a suspected poisonous gas attack on Douma, near Damascus, which President Donald Trump blamed on the Syrian government and Russia.
