French giants Paris Saint Germain on Sunday clinched their fifth Ligue 1 title in six years after thrashing immediate former champions Monaco 7-1 at the Parc des Princes.
This was the first time that Monaco have conceded seven goals in a top-flight game since 1974, and the heavy defeat prompted the club to offer to give fans their money back.
PSG won the title with five more games to play, but with an unreachable 17 point gap between them and their opponents for the night, who are currently ranked second.
Giovani lo Celso and Angel di Maria both scored twice while Edinson Cavani and Julian Draxler were also on target.
Monaco’s striker Radamel Falcao scored an own goal, with Rony Lopes first half strike serving only as a consolation.
The Red and Whites will finish the season in second place, as they have an unassailable 16 point gap between themselves and third placed Lyon.
Lyon will however have to battle hard to retain the last Champions League spot, as they currently have the same points as fourth placed Marseille, but with a better goal difference.
Having won the League title already, PSG will now turn their attention to the French Cup, with a semi-final match against Caen scheduled for Wednesday.
The champions already won the French League Cup in March.
