Presidential campaings end in Uganda, voting on 18 February
Its the final weekend of campaigning ahead of Uganda’s presidential elections and the main contenders appear to have narrowed their last minute push to winning support in the country’s Capital Kampala.
President Yoweri Museveni, who is seeking re-election on the National Resistance Movement, party ticket and his foremer doctor turned rival, Kizza Besigye have been holding separate rallies in Kampala. Kampala and the greater Buganda region are considered by many pundits a make-or-break swing vote. Museveni is seeking to extend his 30 year reign and is running against seven opposition candidates.
Uganda has just over 15 million registered voters, out of an estimated population of 37 million.
