President Sisi unveils plan to restore Egypt’s economic might
Egypt’s population could nearly double by 2030 and that’s why the Egypt Vision 2030 was launched, to ensure the economy can sustain such a population leap.
” 15 years ahead is reasonable if we look at Africa the African union’s Development strategy in 2013 is until 2063. Egypt’s strategy is comprehensive with 10 files the most important are education and health” said Ahmed Samy, Presidential correspondent, Ahram Daily
The government also plans to benefit from a population that two thirds of it are youth. It will encourage the young to embark on Small and medium enterprises.
“We will totally revamp the entire lending system in the financial sector. Our public banks have state owned assets worth 600 billion pounds ($90 billion ) Those 600 billion pounds, we gave them orders that from now on their main target will be to lend the Small and medium enterprises. Our aim is development and serve Egypt’s youth” Tarek Amer, Governor, Central Bank of Egypt
The Egyptian president is adamant on providing better living conditions for the poor.
” 50% of Egypt is shanty towns and then we talk about social justice? ..we have 4500 poor villages in Egypt. If we don’t take action now, then we will have 35 thousand poor villages in 15 years” said Abdel Fattah Al sisi, Egyptian president
Officials spoke about hundreds of billions of dollars of infrastructure projects that are underway. However, the president warned that terrorism has hindered progress.
” Whoever hit tourism in Egypt, why did he do that? He did it so you can revolt. The whole sector was bringing in 14 billion dollar in revenue and we need each dollar to buy our basic needs “said Abdel Fattah Al sisi, Egyptian president
Egypt is planning to double it’s National income in 10 years by targeting 7.5% annual growth. A very ambitious plan noting that vital sectors such as tourism and industry have recently posted major losses .
